Unheard Voices 2007 Events
A series of groundbreaking film seminars and workshops for emerging and aspiring filmmakers to gain insight and inspiration for their own projects from some of the most talented and experienced Independent filmmakers in British and World cinema.
Exploring the themes of immigration and citizenship, participants are taken on a journey from the conception of ideas through to script, the shoot, marketing, distribution and funding.

Developing the writer's voice
Inspiring, kick-starting and equipping you with simple but solid tools to get started on a new script. The day includes workshops with writer / directors Yousaf Ali Khan and Mark Tonderai plus an indepth discussion with director Neil Biswas and a screening of his television feature Bradford Riots.

Bill Douglas Retrospective
A rare chance to see the complete trilogy! In a career spanning nearly 20 years, from 1972 to 1991, Scottish filmmaker Bill Douglas only made four films and three of those were shorts. And yet he is considered one of this island's greatest filmmakers, garnering praise from the likes of Lindsay Anderson, Francois Truffaut and Satyajit Ray. The day begins with a documentary by Andy Kimpton-Nye which explores Bill's struggle from childhood poverty to acclaimed Director. Their will also be an indepth discussion on his work with Andy Kimpton-Nye and long-term collaborator and friend Peter Jewel.

Get it seen..!
Short Film Distribution is often overlooked but has come a long way over the last few years. The workshop is chaired by Vicki Psarias; a screenwriter and film director as well as the editor of the FilmFestival Magazine, lays out practical steps into distributing your short films. Vicki will follow up with an afternoon of shorts reflecting the immigrant experience. We finish off the day with Nick Broomfield's highly acclaimed feature Ghosts. and an interview with lead actress Ai Qin Lin

Financing your first feature
Financing your feature can be a daunting task! David Pope, CEO of the New Producers Alliance chairs a panel of leading industry professionals in exploring the various finance pathways. In the evening we welcome back Wade Jacks with Buffalo Up-North; a unique blend of films from the Buffalo Black and Asian Short Film Festival plus 'Soulcyde' and other live acts.
